The 2025/26 La Liga season is here! This Saturday at 7.30pm CEST, Barça kick off their campaign against Mallorca at Son Moix. It is a ground where things have generally gone to plan in recent meetings, but there is no room for complacency against a side that is also coming into the game in fine form.

Two good preseasons

Both Mallorca and Barça have been having strong pre-seasons. Bar#a, of course, won every game on their Asian Tour and then put five past Como in the Gamper.

They have won friendlies against Spanish lower league sides Sant Andreu (1-0) and Poblense (2-0), Shabab Al-Ahli of Dubai (2-1), and last week they saw off SV Hamburg (2-). They also drew in Parma (1-1), while their only defeat was against Olympique Lyon (4-0).

Big win last year

Starting the league on the right foot is always important, and San Moix is a stadium where Barça have a habit of collecting very decent results. The most recent meeting there was a resounding 5–1 victory, and the game in 2020 ended 4-0. But the three games played in between were tighter affairs. Barça won two of them 1-0 and the other ended in a 2-2 draw.

Guaranteed goals 

Since a goalless draw between the Balearic and Catalan sides on 9 February 2002, FC Barcelona have scored in every league visit to Son Moix. That’s 16 consecutive games finding the net away to Mallorca, and often coming away with all three points. In fact, over that run Barça have only lost once and drawn once. Pablo Torre versus former colleagues

This clash will be a special one for Pablo Torre. After leaving Barça to join the Balearic team, the Cantabrian midfielder could make his official debut for Mallorca against his former club, and many of his ex-teammates!

Opening day magic

It is always nice to get off to a winning start, and three points in Mallorca would extend Barça's unbeaten streak in opening-day fixtures to six years. The Catalans haven't lost their first match of a campaign since they tumbled to 1-0 defeat in 2019/20, against Athletic Club.
