On Tuesday 1 July the Spanish Football Federation announced the league fixtures for the 2025/26 season. The blaugranes face Mallorca on the first weekend of the campaign away in the Son Moix stadium - but have they faced the club from the Balearic Islands previously on the opening weekend?
First time in Son Moix
This season will see Barça Real Mallorca for just the second time in the opening fixture of the league campaign and the first time on the island. In 1965/66 the two teams met at Spotify Camp Nou in the first league game of the season with Barça running out 3-1 winners.
Sixth time final fixture against Valencia
Barça will end the 2025/26 league campaign with a trip to Mestalla stadium to take on Valencia. It will be the second time the blaugranes end the campaign in Valencia after a 1-1 draw in the final fixture of the 1934/35 season. The teams have met four times at Spotify Camp Nou on the final weekend of the campaign, most famously in 2001 when Rivaldo's overhead kick earned a win that took them into the following season's Champions League.
Clásico as usual
The most awaited fixture is always, of course, the Clásico against Real Madrid. In 2025/26 the timing of the two matches follows a recent pattern: the game in the Bernabéu will be the weekend of 25/26 October. On 25 October there have been three Clásicos, all in Madrid, with the home side winning twice in 1953 and 2014 and Barça winning in 1970. On 26 October there have been three Clásicos also, in 1958, 2013 and 2024 with Barça winning all three.
Two in May
The second Clásico will be on the weekend 9/10 May. Only one previous Clásico has taken place on 9 May and one on 10 May - in 1929 and in 1997 respectively with Real Madrid winning the first and Barça the second.
A derby to start the year
2026 will begin with a local derby against city rivals Espanyol, something that has occurred on five occasions with Barça winning three times and drawing twice.
In 2016 the two Barcelona clubs met three times in 13 days January after beginning the calendar with Barça eliminating Espanyol from the Copa del Rey over two legs.
