Joan Garcia is now officially an FC Barcelona player. The Catalan keeper may have recently arrived at the blaugrana club, but not everything will be unfamiliar to him as he has already been in the same team as four of the playing squad.
Eric Garcia came first
The first was Eric Garcia, and in three different teams too – Spain U17s, the Spain Olympic team and the Catalonia team. They first met over seven years ago now, in January 2018, during an U17 friendly between Spain and Italy, with both blaugranes ending up on the winning side (0-2).
Olympic Gold at Paris 2024
Cubarsí, Fermín, Joan Garcia and Eric again were part of the squad that took home gold from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The new signing didn't play so he wasn't on the pitch with these blaugranes, but he already has experiencing of spending tournament time will all three, as well as that winning feeling.
A new teammate with Catalonia
Lastly, the blaugrana keeper played in the game that saw Catalonia take on Costa Rica at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on 28 May. There he met up with Eric Garcia again, but also with another FC Barcelona player for the first time in Pau Víctor. All three started the match that ended in a 2-0 victory for the Catalans.
