Hansi Flick: 'If they can party, they can work'

FC Barcelona coach describes the victory parade and hints that against Villarreal he might field a team made up of La Masia graduates

Hansi Flick thoroughly enjoyed his first celebration parade as Barça manager, and discussed his feeling in his press conference ahead of the match against Villarreal, the last home game of the season. “It was incredible. When you see people’s faces, it’s very beautiful" he said.

"Hopefully we can do it again next year. It was amazing to see everyone celebrating ... My family is always with me. Some are in Germany, and we did video calls. This morning I watched some videos with my grandson. It’s very lovely.”

But the well-deserved celebration of the league title hasn't blurred his focus on the penultimate fixture. “It’s the last home game and we want to win it" he stressed. "We want to celebrate it with the fans at our home. We haven’t lost here in 2025 and we don’t want to tomorrow.”

Looking ahead to the clash with Villarreal, Flick is sure he'll make some changes given the circumstances, but also insisted that "if they can go out partying, they can also work. No excuses.”

With two games remaining, Barça still has certain motivations. One is Lewandowski’s bid for the Pichichi, but Flick hinted at another. Asked about possibly fielding an XI of players all trained at La Masia—like the one Tito Vilanova once deployed—the German explained, “We’ve talked about it, but we haven’t decided yet. It’s an option.”
