Eric Garcia has hit on some tremendous form, and although it's not his usual duty, he's been scoring goals too. No few than five this season. But until Sunday he hadn't scored at the Estadi Olimpic, and what a time to it for the first time. Against Real Madrid in the Clásico, and just days after he also scored in Milan. 

Comeback starter

The goal against Inter came when Barça had gone 2-0 down and were in big trouble. His was the first of three goals that saw the Catalans totally turn the tie around to lead 3-2, although they would eventually lose 4-3.

And just five days later, he did it again, and with a happier ending. Once again Barça were 2-0 down, and once again Eric Garcia got the goal that started the Barça machine rolling, the game ending in a majestic 4-3 win for a team that is now just one more win away from the Liga title.

What's more, in another amazing comeback to win 5-4 at Benfica, it was Eric who scored the goal to make it 4-4.

Versatility

The Catalan has been playing a more and more decisive role as the season has progressed, and has proved remarkably versatile. As well as his usual position in the centre of defence, he has also been adapting to football at full back and in midfield, never failing to impress. Both in Milan and against Madrid, he was at full-back, providing excellent cover for the injured Kounde, while in Valladolid and in the cup final, he played in midfield.

His time last season on loan to Girona got him the minutes he needed to show what he can do, and Hansi Flick is very aware that he can use García as a utility player in a number of different roles, easily filling in for the likes of Pedri and Gavi and proving to be a very important part of the squad vibe. He's a player who has to fight hard to earn the respect he now commands, and every credit goes to him for getting noticed as the wonderful player he is.
