On Sunday Barça took a giant step towards winning the league after beating Real Madrid 4-3 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Winning a Clásico is always more than a win but Hansi Flick has turned it into an art form after taking victory in his first four official games against Real Madrid (plus a pre-season win in the USA). This feat is a record in itself as Barça had never before won every games in a season against their big rivals in a season with at least three Clásicos.
16 goals scored
Barça's attacking brand of football this season under their German coach has seen them score 16 goals in those four matches against Real Madrid. In fact the blaugranes are the first time to ever score so many goals against los blancos in a single season, surpassing the 13 scored by themselves in 2011/12 and Espanyol in 1929/30.
From New York to the Bernabéu
For Barça this season everything started in New York at the beginning of August with a 2-1 win over Real Madrid thanks to two pre-season goals from Pau Víctor. At the end of October, in his first official Clásico, Hansi Flick masterminded a 4-0 win in the Santiago Bernabéu in La Liga with two goals for Lewandowski and one each for Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
Five in Saudi Arabia
In Jeddah in Saudi Arabia in January Barça recorded a 5-2 win against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final despite playing more than half an hour with 10 men. The second Clásico win of the season saw Barça lift their first trophy of the Hansi Flick era.
Kounde and the Copa
Wins three and four have come more recently. At the end of April in the La Cartuja stadium in Seville, Barça took their 32nd Copa del Rey title with a late extra time winner from Jules Koude giving them a 3-2 victory in the final against Real Madrid.
Madness in Montjuïc
Finally on Sunday the Estadi Olímpic witnessed a 4-3 win that helped the blaugranes overcome their Champions League exit earlier in the week at the hands of Inter Milan. Hansi Flick lifted his side to victory in front of 50,000 plus fans in Montjuïc to give him a faultless 4/4 record this season against Real Madrid and move ever closer to the league title.
