París Saint-Germain, unbeaten for five months
The first leg against PSG is just days away and FC Barcelona know they face a tough challenge against a side that is again running away with Ligue 1 after an unbeaten spell that now stretches to five months.
We have to go all the way back to November 7 to find their last reverse, a 2-1 loss at the San Siro that seriously hampered their chances of even making it into the last sixteen of the Champions League. In a group that also featured Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United they were on the verge of going out but eventually squeezed through by the tightest of margins.
27 games without defeat
That was also the week that, after a fairly slow start, they finally hit the top of the table in their domestic championship. And PSG have not looked back since, in the 27 games played from that moment on, they have won 19, drawn 8 and lost none, including some very impressive performance such as the 2-0 win away to Real Sociedad and a recent victory by the same score at Marseille despite playing half the game with ten men. Just last Wednesday they sealed passage to the cup final by beating Rennes 1-0, and just five more games without loss would match their longest ever run of 32 in 2022.
PSG still have their eyes on a historic treble. The Champions League is where they have things most difficult, where they are up against Barça, a side that has also hit on a strong bit of form. It's going to be an absolute cracker, that's for sure!
