Xavi says Club América game 'good spectacle' in Dallas

Right after the game the Barça boss reflected on the defeat in the friendly in the US and the performance of his young players

In the end Barça were unable to round of 2023 with a victory after going down to a 3-2 defeat against Mexican side Club América in Dallas. Nevertheless, after the game coach Xavi Hernández was able to take positives from the game in the USA which saw several young players given an opportunity with the first team. 

Happy despite the loss, the Barça coach confessed that the contest had been good to watch with both sides "playing well and producing a good match with good football." 

"Both teams had chances but the Mexicans won as they were more clinical in front of goal," continued the coach. 

The blaugrana boss was also content to have given US fans the chance to see the team. "These games always add something and it's a pleasure to be able to play in the United States," he said. The coach also defended his decision to give youth a chance against Club América. "After the game against Almería, the older players have come here tired and it was a day for the younger players to step up. We are working hard with the youth teams and the young players who come up are more than prepared," concluded Xavi. 

Lamine Yamal: "We are happy to play in front of the US fans"

Beyond the results, goalscorer Lamine Yamal explained the team's happiness at making their fans happy: "It was a good game and the fans enjoyed it. We are happy to play in front of the fans in the USA." The teenager added: "Despite it being a good game, we can always improve. We were up against a team who surprised us with their level."
