Barça and Sergio Ramos, a rivalry for the ages
The Andalusian is the all-time leading appearance maker against Barça and could be in line to face the blaugranes at the Lluís Companys stadium on Friday
Another evening affair at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys this Friday with Sevilla the visitors this time (kick-off 9.00pm CEST). The current Europa League champions have a very well-known new face in their ranks, no less than veteran defender, Sergio Ramos.
47 games for Ramos against Barça
The Spaniard has returned to where it all began for him after almost two decades away. After a long spell at Real Madrid and a couple of years with PSG, he is back at the heart of the Sevilla defence. What's more, Sergio Ramos is well-known to Barça too, as he is the all-time leading appearance maker against Barça.
Sergio Ramos has faced the blaugranes no fewer than 47 times, but only twice wearing a Sevilla jersey, during the 2004/05 season, when Barça won 2-0 at the Spotify Camp Nou and 0-4 at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. Should Ramos play on Friday, it will be his 48th game against Barça, extending his lead slightly over Benzema and Paco Gento in second and third place with 46 and 45 appearances respectively.
Ivan Rakitic back on familiar ground
The blaugranes have won 22 of the 47 games that Ramos has faced Barça, with Ramos' sides winning 15, with 10 draws making up the remainder. As well as another potential chapter in the tussle with the Andalusian, fans at the Estadí Olímpic will also be able to give a warm welcome to former blaugrana Ivan Rakitic.
