Sergi Roberto renews contract with FC Barcelona until 2024

Player's buyout clause is set at 400 million euros

FC Barcelona and Sergi Roberto have reached an agreement to extend the player's contract through to 2024. The buyout clause has been set at 400 million euros.

The virtue of patience

Sergi Roberto has spent 17 years of his life wearing the blaugrana jersey. He entered al Masia in 2006 from Nàstic Tarragona and rose through the ranks, eventually featuring for the reserves, managed at the time by Luis Enrique. He made his first team debut on 10 November 2010 in a Copa del Rey match against Ceuta.

13 years and 339 matches later, he is still an example of patience as a virtue. Originally an attacking midfielder, under different coaches he has played in a wide range of positions, always delivering an impeccable service.

It was Luis Enrique who first opted to play him as right back, the position that he has occupied the most and with which his career at the club will be most identified. A career that, thanks to this new deal, will be extended by at least one more season.
