Pedri reaches 100 appearances for FC Barcelona

The midfielder from the Canary Islands becomes the second youngest player in Club history to record a century of games

Against Girona on Saturday midfielder Pedri made his 100th appearance in a FC Barcelona shirt and celebrated the occasion by scoring the only goal of the game in the Estadio Montilivi. The 20 year old is in his third season with Barça and he becomes the second youngest player in Club history to reach a century of matches, behind only Bojan Krkic. 

Midfielder's figures 

The arrival of the midfielder from Tenerife injected some youth and vitality into the Barça squad. In his first season as a blaugrana he made 52 appearances in a Barça shirt, more than any other player and his performances were rewarded with the Golden Boy award and the Kopa Trophy. 

The midfielder is a key figure in the Barça midfield with his ability to break down defences with his inch perfect passing. Pedri can play as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker.

In his 100 matches he has started 82, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists, and he has ended up on the winning side in 62 of those games. 

The second youngest

Pedri is the second youngest player in Barça history to reached 100 appearances as a blaugrana. The youngest was Bojan Krkic who reached a century of matches in September 2009 aged 19 years, 2 months and 24 days. 

Up until the game against Girona, the second youngest to reach the landmark figure was Leo Messi who made his 100th appearance in February 2008 aged 20 years, 8 months and 3 days. However, Pedri's appearance in the La Liga fixture in the Estadi Montilivi at the age of 20 years, 2 months and 4 days means he overtakes the Argentine in the list of youngest players to reach 100 games for FC Barcelona.
