Ferran Torres and Gavi, first Barça players to score at the World Cup

The forward scored a penalty to make it 3-0 against Costa Rica, then scored a second for 4-0, before the midfielder scored a record-breaking goal to make it 5-0 at the time

Ferran Torres and Gavi are the first FC Barcelona players to score at the World Cup. The attacker from Valencia scored the first at Qatar 2022, going on to complete a brace. The second scorer was the midfielder from Seville, a record-breaking goal no less.

In the sixth game in Qatar featuring Barça players, Ferran scored the third goal of the game for Spain against Costa Rica from the penalty spot, deceiving goalkeeper Keylor Navas. Barça's number 11 then got his brace when he made it 4-0, meaning he is leading the race for the golden boot alongside Enner Valencia, Saka, Taremi and Giroud.

Record-breaking Gavi

The energetic Barça midfielder made it 5-0 with a great goal, using the outside of his foot to volley the ball in off the right post, also making him the youngest Spain player to score at a World Cup. He also became the youngest player to score at a World Cup since Pelé in 1958.

GAVI SELECCIÓ

Ferran Torres and Gavi have joined a select list of Barça players to score at a World Cup. The first was Estanislau Basora at Brazil 1950, followed by Fusté, Neeskens, Johan Cruyff, Asensi, Maradona, Lineker, Calderé, Julio Salinas, Koeman, Stòitxkov, Romario, Goikoetxea, Begiristain, Guardiola, Rivaldo, Cocu, Luis Enrique, Zenden, Deco, Larsson, Rafa Márquez, Messi, David Villa, Iniesta, Puyol, Touré Yaya, Neymar, Alexis, Yerri Mina, Coutinho, Luis Suárez, Rakitić, Paulinho, Umtiti, and now, Ferran Torres and Gavi

Russia 2018 saw the most number of different FC Barcelona players scoring at seven, however the highest number of goals scored by Barça players was 15 at USA 1994, including former Barça player Hristo Stoichkov top scoring.

Ferran Torres and Gavi were the first in Qatar 2022. However, as Barça are represented at the World Cup by no less than 17 players - a record - we are likely to see more goals from FC Barcelona players in the coming games.
