Ter Stegen: No limits

German goalkeeper becomes the the first keeper this century to keep nine clean sheets in the first eleven games of a Liga campaign

Marc-André Ter Stegen is having an extraordinary season. Shortly after breaking his personal best for an unbeaten run, a remarkable 636 minutes, the 4-0 defeat of Athletic Club was a record ninth clean sheet in the first eleven games of a Liga season.

The German stopper has only been beaten in two games. Isak of Real Sociedad scored in one, and Benzema, Valverde and Rodrigo all netted in El Clásico. Ter Stegen has made 23 saves so far this season, 17 of those from shots inside the area.

Only three keepers this century have done anything comparable. Jan Oblak, Claudio Bravo and Víctor Valdés (in 2020/21, 2014/15 and 2011/12 respectively), were all beaten in just three of their first eleven games.

Home strength

Marc-André Ter Stegen has been totally unyielding at Spotify Camp Nou, where not one player has managed to score past him in any of the six league fixtures played there to date.

Only Roberto Abbondanzieri of Getafe in 2006/07 and Barça's own Víctor Valdés in 2011/12 have managed to avoid leaking a goal on home turf for a comparable amount of time this century.
