Aubameyang: 'We have a competitive team'

In an interview with ESPN, the Gabon striker praises his blaugrana fellow forwards Lewandowski and Dembélé

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is keen to point out that Barça have a 'competitive' team. In an interview with US TV station ESPN FC, the striker commented on some of the new faces who have arrived at the Club and his own excellent record against Real Madrid, the team Barça face on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Improving on last season with Lewy

"When the arrival of Lewandowski was made official, I was very happy," said the Gabon international. Aubameyang remembered his time at Borussia Dortmund playing alongside the Polish striker. "Now we have more experience so was can do even better than in the past. I am sure that we will do our best to improve the stats we had at Dortmund, " said the striker, referring to the 44 goals the two players scored in their only season together at the Bundesliga club in 2013/14.

The addition of Lewandowski adds more quality to the squad. "I am really happy because Barça can compete for trophies with all the great strikers we have," said Aubameyang. The experienced striker was also happy that another former Borussia Dortmund team mate is staying at the Club; Ousmane Dembélé. "His quality is crazy and I just enjoy every game I play with him," said Aubameyang.

Enjoying it alongside Xavi

Aubameyang also had praise for his current coach, Xavi Hernández. "He was one of the best in the world but as a coach he has great vision; he wants Barça to control possession and always look ahead," explained the Gabon international. "We are motivated to compete for all the trophies and we are putting together a super team, he added.

Another Clásico on the horizon

Aubameyang is facing one of his favourite foes on Saturday, Real Madrid. The striker has seven goals in seven matches, including two in the 4-0 at the Bernabéu in La Liga last season. "I have something special when I play Real Madrid and I hope it continues," he confessed. "Playing against Real Madrid is always exciting and you are extra motivated," he concluded.

The striker is about to start his first full season at the Club and he has 'really enjoyed' his spell with the blaugranes so far yet is looking forward to the coming campaign in which he believes they will 'fight for everything.'
