Xavi promises the best from FC Barcelona in Sydney

The Barça coach remembers a previous visit and Ter Stegen and Dani Alves both describe their pleasure at visiting Australia for the first time

Xavi Hernández has spoken to the press ahead of Wednesday’s friendly with the A-League All Stars. Marc ter Stegen and Dani Alves also had words to say, as did former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke, who is managing the opposition, along with two of his own players, Jack Rodwell and Jason Davidson.

"This is a historic event. It is the first time Barça have been here in Australia. It is a privilege and an honour. Sydney is a great city, and I have wonderful memories of being here when we won the silver medal at the Olympics.”

"Tomorrow we will try to play our very best and make sure it’s a game people will enjoy.”

Ter Stegen

“This is a unique experience. Most of us are here for the first time and we want to go out and win this game. Visiting this country is something special for all of us.”

Dani Alves

“It’s something different for us. It’s always special to visit a country for the first time. A country with so much history, and we are so happy to be here to represent the institution.”

"We will try to make sure that the people have fun at the game, that’s what the idea is. It is a friendly where I have to spectators that come will enjoy a nice day out.”
