Piqué, Araujo and Carevic in squad for Real Sociedad

Centre back gets medical clearance, Uruguayan returns from suspension and reserve team goalkeeper also included in the 23 that will travel to San Sebastian on Thursday

Xavi Hernández has named his squad for the game with Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on Thursday and it’s as follows:

Ter Stegen, Dest, Piqué, R. Araujo, Sergio, Riqui Puig, O. Dembélé, Dani Alves, Memphis, Adama, Braithwaite, Neto, Nico, Lenglet, L. De Jong, Jordi Alba, Ferran, F. De Jong, O. Mingueza, Eric, Aubameyang, Carevic and Gavi.

That means a return for Gerard Piqué, who was given the medical all-clear on Wednesday, and also a call-up for Montenegrin goalkeeper Lazar Carević. Meanwhile, Urguayan defender Ronald Araujo is back after being suspended for the weekend fixture.

Absent through injury are Ansu Fati, Pedri, Sergi Roberto and Samuel Umtiti.

Last session at Ciutat Esportiva

On Wednesday morning, the team trained for the last time before the game on the Tito Vilanova field at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. After a few hot and sunny days, the temperatures have dropped back down again in the Catalan capital, and the session was held beneath the clouds in a crisp wind.
