15 years to the day since a famous 'Clásico'

15 years ago today a classic 'Clásico' was played out in the Santiago Bernabéu. On 19 November 2005 Frank Rijkaard's Barça side won 3-0 away at Real Madrid in one of the most memorable clashes of all time between the two giants of European Football. Brazilian striker Ronaldinho was given a standing ovation by the Madrid fans at the final whistle following an unforgettable performance that included two brilliant goals. Furthermore, it was a notable occasion as it saw an 18 year old Leo Messi make his first ever appearance in the famous fixture..

Samuel Eto'o put the blaugranes ahead after just 14 minutes of the game with an excellent finish from a pass from debutante Messi. In the second half two brilliant goals from Ronaldinho in the 59th and 77th minute cutting in from the left on both occasions saw Barça 3-0 up and the Bernabéu on its feet to pay tribute to the magic of the Brazilian. 

A memorable match in a memorable season with Barça winning both La Liga and the Champions League, the latter thanks to a win over Arsenal in the final in Paris. 15 years on and the memories have not dimmed for culers - a match to be remembered indeed.
