Ronaldinho looks back at his days at FC Barcelona in a new episode of ‘The Album’ documentary series produced by Barça Studios

New episode to premiere Thursday, September 3 on Barça TV+, the club’s digital streaming service, to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the Brazilian’s debut in the blaugrana jersey

Ronaldinho is the star of the fourth part of The Album documentary series produced by Barça Studios, in which blaugrana legends look back at their careers through different images recorded during their time at FC Barcelona. It’s a unique series that shows the Brazilian commenting on each of the greatest highlights of his time at Barça: from his first goal against Sevilla, in the weird game played just after midnight on Wednesday, September 3, 2003, to the tribute to him at Camp Nou seven years later when he returned to the stadium wearing the AC Milan shirt as the Italian club came to Barcelona as guests in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

The 40-minute episode is being released Thursday, September 3, to commemorate the 17th anniversary of his first game for the club, and is available on demand on FC Barcelona’s streaming service, Barça TV+. The program combines pictures from matches and celebrations, and the player in action on the pitch, with a brand new interview in which Ronaldinho offers his personal take on each of those moments, and in which he expresses his love and admiration for the club, its players and his former coach Frank Rijkaard. In the documentary, the former player states his special bond with the city saying that “Barcelona is his home.”

The Album: Ronaldinho
starts with a highlights reel of his life at Barça, where he says aloud “those were lovely moments full of so many nice things.” From there, the player looks back at the 2003/04 season, which got off to a bad start with the team as low as 12th in the table, but which they ended second in the league behind Valencia. It was a year that put smiles back on Culer faces, who were enduring a 4-year trophy drought, and it was the prelude to 2005 and 2006, when the club won back-to-back Liga titles and also won the Champions League.

The show focuses particularly on the magic that Ronaldinho wielded on the pitch during that era, his understanding with Samuel Eto’o and Ludovic Giuly, and also the times he shared with a rising star called Leo Messi, who was just breaking into the first team at the time. And it naturally also includes such memorable moments as the time he was applauded at the Bernabéu and his Ballon d’Or award in 2005.

As well as the successes, it also remembers more painful memories like getting knocked out of Europe by Chelsea in 2005, the defeat to Liverpool in 2007 that meant the team would be unable to defend the title won in Paris, the 2-2 draw with Espanyol at Camp Nou in June of the same year that meant saying good bye to the same season’s league title, and his departure for Italy at the end of the 2007/08 season.

A series about Barça legends

The Ronaldinho episode is the fourth in The Album documentary series created and produced by Barça Studios, the FC Barcelona audiovisual factory. The series began with an episode all about Andrés Iniesta, and the second and third instalments focused on Jose Mari Bakero and Carles Rexach.

The show is part of the ORIGINALS category available on Barça TV+, which FC Barcelona launched last June 3. The service is available worldwide on the club website and app for all devices (PC, tablet, mobile and TV using cast technology) and in three languages (Catalan, Spanish and English). Subscribers will find

1,000 hours of content and more than three thousand 100% Barça videos that can also be viewed on demand.
