The effectiveness of Arturo Vidal

The effectiveness of Arturo Vidal

The Chilean midfielder scored his eighth goal of the season against Valladolid, and has the best goal-scoring percentage in the league

FC Barcelona's No.22, Arturo Vidal, is the player in LaLiga with the best effectiveness in front of goal. Of his 23 shots on target, eight have ended up in the back of the net, a statistic that translates into 34.78% accuracy.

Eight goals in La Liga

Valladolid, both home and away, Betis, Sevilla, Leganés, Alavés, Espanyol and Mallorca have suffered at the feet of the Chilean. His goals in 2019/20 make him the fourth highest scorer at the club behind Messi (27), Suárez (18) and Griezmann (15).

However, Vidal leads the ranking in terms of effectiveness, both for Barça and in the Spanish top flight. His 34.78% success rate dwarves that of Luis Suárez (20.83%), Ansu Fati, (20.69%), Parejo (26.67%), Sergio Ramos (26.32%) and Maxi Gómez (25.64%), who are the closest to the midfielder's statistics.

Important goals

As happened in the match against Valladolid (0-1), Vidal's goal had a real impact on the result because it allowed Barça to take advantage, just as they did at the Camp Nou against the white-and-violets, as well as at Butarque, RCDE Stadium or Son Moix.

"The important thing is that my goals serve to add points," Vidal said at the conclusion of Saturday's match.

It's Vidal's best return as a Barça player, but his 18 goals in 2013/14 with Juventus stand out, as do the 15 for the bianconeri in 2012/13. The 33-year-old still has two LaLiga matches (Osasuna and Alavés) and, from August, the Champions League, in which to extend his current run.
