Rival watch: Slavia win, Borussia Dortmund and Inter draw

Next Liga opponents Valladolid beat Eibar

Dortmund held

Borussia Dortmund, without Paco Alcácer, drew 0-0 on their trip to Schalke 04, a game in which the home side dominated most of the first half but Dortmund created most of the danger after the break but couldn’t find a way past the in-form keeper Nübel. The result leaves them third, two points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich, but Wolfsburg and Borussia Moenchengladbach are both playing on Sunday.

Inter miss their chance

In Italy, Inter Milan were held 2-2 at home to Parma. They took the lead through Candreva, but two goals in four minutes from Yann Karamoh and Gervinho meant they were trailing at the interval. Lukaku salvaged a point, but on a day that Juventus drew with Lecce, this was a chance to go back to the top of table lost.

Slavia Praga win at Viktoria Plzen

Barça’s other Champions League rivals, and also the team they play next in the competition, Slavia Prague, played a crunch game on Sunday when they faced Viktoria Plzen in a first versus second place fixture. A goal in the 50th minute from Josef Hušbauer was the difference, and the 0-1 victory in what was a tough battle means that Slavia now have 38 points, nine more than Viktoria Plzen, who remain second.

Valladolid win away

Barça’s next Liga opponents (Camp Nou, Tuesday at 9.15pm CET) Real Valladolid beat Eibar 2-0 on Saturday thanks to a brace from Ghanaian Mohammed Salisu. That result put los pucelanos eighth in the table ahead of Sunday’s fixtures. They slipped a place after Osasuna's 3-1 home victory over Valencia, whilst Granada ended the weekend on top of La Liga after beating Real Betis 1-0. It's the first time in over two decades that a newly promoted side has led the division after 10 games.
