Barça to play charity friendly at FC Cartagena on November 13
7.00pm CET kick-off organised to raise funds for the victims of the serious flooding suffered in the region of Murcia
FC Barcelona and FC Cartagena will be playing a charity friendly next Wednesday 13 November at 7.00pm CET at the Estadio Cartagonova.
The proceeds will be used to support the victims of the serious flooding that hit the Murcia region of eastern Spain from September 12 to 16, and that affected some 30,000 people and caused estimated damages of between 170 and 190 million euros, according to the Insurance Compensation Consortium.
First meeting since 2013/14
Barça have played Cartagena six times before, and this will be the third friendly meeting, following one at Les Corts way back in 1931 and another in Cartagena in 1965.
The most recent encounters have come in the Copa del Rey. Barça progressed on both occasions, 1988/19 and 2013/14, with the last game of all being a 3-0 win at the Camp Nou on 17 December 2013 (Pedro, Mariano Sánchez (og) and Neymar Jr).
Replica of the Mini
Curiously, FC Cartagena’s Cartagonova stadium is a copy of Barça’s own Miniestadi, built in 1988, redesigned in 2000 and now being demolished after the Barça B, women and U19 teams switched to a new home at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
