Songs, dancing, fireworks and tears of joy as the FC Barcelona stadium celebrates the Liga title

On the night of 27 April 2019, FC Barcelona got to celebrate a Liga title for the 26th time in club history! And for the second year in a row … and the eighth season in the last eleven! After an almost perfect championship, the Catalans have made sure of the trophy with three games to spare as the modern-day Barça legend continues.

A 1-0 win over Levante on Saturday night and it was job done and time to party! Well, there’s the not-so-small matter of Liverpool to come on Wednesday, but everyone can be forgiven for letting themselves go a little this evening!

And that is precisely what the Camp Nou did. The atmosphere had been electric from the moment the game got under way, and went into overdrive once Leo Messi had scored at set the team on course for celebration.

Music and fireworks

As first team captain, the same man got the honour of collecting the league trophy. It’s the tenth time he’s won it, but the first wearing the coveted armband. As the message on their shirts proclaimed, this team, and this incredible player, make the extraordinary look routine.

Queue the music, and a live performance of the song Extraordinari, written for the occasion by Marc Parrot and performed by Ramon Mirabet and Elena Gadel. Next up was the traditional lap of honour, serenaded by thousands of adoring fans with all the old favourite chants of ‘campeones’ and other classics, and several members of the players’ families joining them on the pitch as well.

The Liga victory was then toasted in spectacular style by the kind of firework show that the Catalans are so brilliant at putting on, setting the Barcelona sky alight in the blaugrana colours, and with camera flashes created just as awesome a spectacle down below.

It was a night for savouring the magic of this extraordinary team … and hopefully just the first of many celebrations to come over the next few weeks. Força Barça!
