Jean-Clair Todibo: 'I want to learn from my teammates'

FC Barcelona's new centre back spoke about his pride at signing for the club

Jean-Clair Todibo is now officially an FC Barcelona player. The new no.6 spoke at the Ricard Maxenchs press room on Friday, accompanied by Second Vice President Jordi Mestre and Technical Secretary Éric Abidal.

The new signing said that he felt "very proud and honoured to share this moment, in particular with my family and the club directors," and added that his intention is to "improve and learn every day from the older players. Todibo also singled out Samuel Umtiti as one of the players he looks up to the most, describing him as "one of the best in the world."

Taking on the Number 6 shirt is a daunting task, with it having been occupied by club legend Xavi. Tobido said that "I loved Xavi when I was a kid" and that he hoped to live up to the number.

Abidal: “He's a player with a lot of potential"

The FC Barcelona Technical Secretary praised Todibo's abilities, saying that he was "a player with a lot of potential. He has come here now because we have to protect our players, and the situation in which he wasn't playing at Toulouse was difficult," before expressing that the early arrival would help him to learn the Barça phoilosophy and style of play.

Vice President Mestre explained that FC Barcelona reached an agreement with Toulouse in which they would pay 1m for his transfer fee, plus 2 million in variables based on performance."
