Lungs down the right

Aleix Vidal arrived at FC Barcelona after an outstanding season with Sevilla. A fast player with great stamina down the right flank, he joined a Barça side that had won every major title the previous season. After three seasons as a blaugrana player, including a loan spell at Deportivo Alavés, he returned to Sevilla. He eventually brought his professional playing career to an end at Espanyol shortly before turning 34.

His excellent season at Sevilla, capped by winning the UEFA Europa League in 2015 while playing a key role, convinced Barça to sign him to strengthen a squad coming off a historic treble-winning campaign. His versatility stood out, as he could cover the entire right wing both defensively and offensively. However, strong competition within the team prevented him from becoming a regular starter. Even so, he played 51 matches and scored four goals across the two and a half seasons he was available for Barça and won six trophies with the club.

In the summer of 2018, he returned to Sevilla on a three-year deal, spending one of those seasons on loan at Alavés. His final club as a professional footballer was Espanyol, where he spent two seasons before retiring in 2023 at nearly 34 years of age.
