mini_Kluivert
Natural goalscorer

A centre forward who did a lot more than score goals, Patrick Kluivert was a quick, technically gifted player who came to Barça via AC Milan after beginning his career with Ajax Amsterdam.

Patrick Kluivert came to Barça after a short spell in Italian football with AC Milan. Prior to playing in Serie A he had three highly successful seasons with his home town club of Ajax. The Dutch striker is particularly remembered for scoring the winner in the 1995 Champions League final against Juventus at the age of just 19.

In his first season at Barça in 1998/99 he won the league title, forming an impressive attacking trio with Luis Figo and Rivaldo. In his six seasons with Barça he scored 122 goals but the number 9 was always more than just a goalscorer. Kluivert formed a deadly partnership with Javier Saviola after the Argentine’s arrival in 2001, creating nearly as many goals as he scored. In 2004 he left Barça to try his luck in the Premier League with Newcastle United.

The striker stayed just a season in England before returning to La Liga with Valencia. A return to Holland saw him player for PSV Eindhoven before seeing out his final season, 2007-08, in Ligue 1 with Lille.
