CD Alcoià v FC Barcelona B: Late defeat after comeback (3-2)

Gerard López’s side rally back from two goals down but concede almost immediately after levelling to fall for first loss of the season

FC Barcelona B’s winning start to the campaign came to an end on Sunday evening as they suffered a late defeat at the hands of Alcoià.

The B team managed to rally back from two goals down but, rather than going on to get a late winner as they did last week, they were the ones to feel the crushing blow of a late strike.

Barça started the brighter of the two sides, but it was the home side that took the lead after a disputable penalty call, which was then dispatched by Jony.

The same player scored his and his side’s second on 54 minutes as Barça looked to have lost control of the match. Gerard López’s halved the deficit with eleven minutes to go when Kaptoum’s corner was knocked into his own goal by Miranda.

Guillemenot, from the U19 side, who was making his debut for the team, pulled the match level after Mujica’s fine assist.

But rather than Barça going on to push for a 3-2 win as they did last week, it was the home side who went up the other end and scored almost immediately after, as Manuel Gato’s 86th minute goal brought an end of three wins in a row to a halt.
