Barça B v Tenerife: Clinical Tenerife take points (3-0)

Gerard López's team are beaten by a very clinical and defensively-strong rival in their first match at the Miniestadi back in Division 2A

Division 2A football returned to the Miniestadi with Barça B taking on Tenerife but unfortunately they were unable to make it two wins out of two. Gerard López’s side were undone by an effective Tenerife who were able to score three times and gave little away at the back. The home team were 2-0 down by the break and despite their best efforts they conceded a third in the second half.

Barça B had some good chances from a dangerous cross and a free-flowing move which Aleñá couldn’t quite finish. Gerard López’s side were comfortable on the pitch and were in control of the ball but they lacked precision in the final third. David Concha threatened with a turn and shot which went just over.

Later, Vitinho went close with a shot from the edge of the box but the keeper Dani turned it around his post. Tenerife didn’t create much in the opening 20 minutes. Their first effort on goal led to the opener half an hour in when they made the most of regaining possession in midfield. Juan Carlos shot gave Varo no chance.

Soon after, the evening got worse for the blaugranas as Fali was penalised in the box and Suso converted the spot kick to make it 2-0. Tenerife had a gilt-edged chance to go three up before the break but Suso’s effort was well saved by Varo.

The second half started with Barça B pushing to get back into the game and David Concha sent in a dangerous ball Cardona couldn’t get on the end of. Tenerife looked for the third and they also went close as Juan Villlar went through on goal but Varo produced yet another save.

The blaugranas continued to try to find a way through the opposition’s well-drilled defence but it proved impossible. In the end, Longo added Tenerife’s third of the night with twenty minutes to go. Barça B’s next match is against Granada at Nuevo Los Cármenes.
