FC Barcelona B v SD Huesca: Clinical visitors seal win (0-2)

The blaugranas not able to turn first half pressure into goals and lose match as they lost control of the game in the second half

Both teams started the match at the Miniestadi with the intention of dominating the match by controlling possession. Gerard López’s Barça B side started with the presence of both R. De Galarreta and Busquets in midfield. The Basque midfielder gave the side a good rhythm and this allowed Carles Aleñá to move further up the pitch as a right-sided winger.

The first half was all blaugrana but a strong second half showing from the opposition side took the game away from them. Barça B weren’t able to make the most of their dominance in the opening 45 minutes and they were defeated by the new Division 2A leaders.

Blaugranas dominate

Barça B didn’t let their opponents settle into the match and they controlled possession in the opening half an hour. They were playing the ball out from the back and Gerard López’s first chance came when Arnaiz wasn’t quite able to convert a Cucurella cross. That was the best chance of the half. Nonetheless, Barça continued to dominate SD Huesca and Ruiz de Galarreta led the side.

Barça B also pressed effectively when they lost the ball and they looked comfortable in defence. The last five minutes of the first half saw Gerard López’s team pressure on Huesca as the break approached. The first half lacked clear cut chances but Alex Remiro went close late in the half.

Huesca’s clinical response

Barça B suffered a setback early in the second half. The away side took the lead through a great Cucho free kick and the blaugranas lost control of the match from then on. The blaugranas struggled to get back into the game. SD Huesca continued to create dangerous situations as they looke to double their lead. In the end, the pressure told and Cucho scored his second of the night in the 60th minute.

Ortolá came to the fore from now on as he produced a series of impressive saves. The Barça keeper’s heroics reactivated his side and Abel Ruiz and Cucurella carved out some chances for the blaugranas. Despite their best efforts they were unable to get back into the game and Barça B’s four match unbeaten run has come to an end.
