Lamine Yamal extends contract to 2026
FC Barcelona player signs new contract this Monday in the offices at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper
FC Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement on a new contract binding the player to the club until 30 June 2026, with the buyout clause set at one billion euros.
The striker put pen to paper this Monday morning at an event in the offices at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper attended by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta; first vice-president Rafa Yuste; the director responsible for youth football, Joan Soler, and the director of sport, Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”.
The deal ensures that the youngsters will be staying at Barça, the club he has belonged to since the age of seven, when he joined from CF La Torreta.
Lamine Yamal has whizzed up through the youth ranks and is regarded as one of the hottest properties to come out of La Masia in recent years.
He was just 15 years, 9 months and 16 days old when he made his league debut against Betis on 29 April 2023, making him the youngest player ever to appear in a competitive fixture for the team.
Xavi Hernández has gradually been using his services more and more, and after joining the squad for its preseason tour, he become the youngest ever starter for FC Barcelona in a game against Cadiz this season, and against Royal Antwerp he became the second youngest player ever to appear in the competition.
And despite his youth, he has already won his first international cap for Spain. In a game against Georgia he not only became the youngest player ever to play for 'La Roja', but also the youngest ever goalscorer.
