SD Logroñés 4-0 Barça Atlètic: Big defeat in La Rioja
The home side are too strong on the day and the reserves are on the wrong end of a hefty loss
Rafa Márquez's side have been beaten for the second game in a row in the Primera RFEF. There was little option when this game was over other than to accept defeat gracefully to a home team that had pretty much sewn up the result after scoring three first half goals. Following this setback, the reserves have dropped to 14th in the table.
Chadli Riad's 19th minute penalty gave Logroñés the chance to open their account, and Iker Unzueta made his spot kick count. Barça Atlètic were trying to take the game to the home side, but were looking very vulnerable on the counter attack, which is how they went two goals down. Samanes stunned blaugrana keeper Nil Ruíz with his shot and when Unzueta culminated a dangerous move to make it 3-0, Barça had a mountain to climb in the second half.
And when a fine strike from Diego Esteban found the net after the teams had re-emerged it became apparent that the three points were going to be staying in La Rioja. Márquez made a number of changes, but all he could hope for now was a consolation goal or two, and those were not forthcoming.
