Sergi Barjuan is the new Barça B coach

FC Barcelona and Sergi Barjuan have reached an agreement for a contract until June 30, 2023

FC Barcelona and Sergi Barjuan have reached an agreement for his incorporation as coach of Barça B until June 30, 2023.

It will be Sergi Barjuan's third stage at FC Barcelona, after having played for the first-team and been coach of the U19B side.

Nine titles with the first team

Sergi Barjuan (December 28, 1971, Franqueses del Vallès) joined Barça Atlètic  in 1988 from the Granollers youth side. He played in all of the youth teams at Barça before reaching the first team in the 1993/94 season, with Johan Cruyff as coach.

He played 386 games and scored 11 goals with the first team, winning nine titles: three leagues, two Copas del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, one European Cup Winners' Cup and one European Super Cup. He would stay at Barça until 2002, when he signed for Atlético Madrid, his second and last team as a professional player.


Experience on the bench

A few years later he would debut as a coach for Barça's U19B side (2009-11), his first return to Barça after his playing days. Since then he has also coached Recreativo de Huelva (2012/13), RCD Mallorca (2016/17) and Zhenjiang Greentown in China (2017-19). He now he returns to lead Barça B in the RFEF First Division.
