Barça B will be playing the Division 2A playoff this Sunday against Sabadell in Marbella (8.00pm CEST on BarçaTV+, outside of Spain only), after eliminating Valladolid Promesas (3-2) and Badajoz (1-1, 5-3 on pens) in the previous rounds.
Coach Garcia Pimienta, midfielder Jandro Orellana and left back Sergio Akieme all spoke to the press ahead of the game.
“Tomorrow’s game is going to be very difficult. The only advantage is that they played in our league, so we know each other very well”.
“Sabadell have a very complete, experienced squad with the kind of players who have played games like this before”.
“I know we will battle all the way and hopefully end up winning promotion, although our ultimate priority is always to train up players ready for the first team”.
“We always have a recognisable style of play, no matter which players are picked. And they know what they have to and have a winning mentality. They’ll do everything they can before if we win this game we’ll be a second division team.”
“I started this project with the U19A team, and we won the Youth League and almost made the play-off last year. They deserve this because of all the hard work they have put into everything”.
“The players have been used to demanding games like this ever since they were very little. They know about the responsible attitude that’s required of them in such games”.
“Those of us who have been here for a long time all know what it means to wear this badge. We have to work hard to get this club as high as possible. We need to treat this game like any other, without letting the pressure get to us. We just need to make sure we make fewer mistakes than the opposition”.
“The will to gain promotion overrides any tiredness we might be feeling. It would be a dream to go up to the second division. We were unlucky last year and this year the team really deserves it.”
“After so many years together we are like a family. It would be lovely to do this together.”
“Every day we put on the Barça shirt it makes us proud and we want to win promotion for the club. I am expecting a game like any other, but against a very tough team. We know how intense the game is going to be because we have played each other in the league.”
“We know that as long as we stay calm and play the kind of football we have been playing all season then we should be okay. The team has progressed a lot this season, and has become a lot more competitive. We are united and believe in ourselves.”
