Barça B 0-0 Andorra: Everything but the goal

Barça B 0-0 Andorra: Everything but the goal

Cracking encounter ends scoreless despite a flood of chances for the reserves

Barça B and Andorra have drawn 0-0 in game in which the reserves played plenty of great football but just could not find the net. That still four games unbeaten and no losses at all at the Estadi Johan Cruyff but three points would have been nice to send the team into the playoff positions.

Andorra are another prime candidate to go up, so there was high quality football on display all round. Reis sent one skimming over the bar, Akieme failed to convert a fine opportunity and the visitors had at least two good chances of their own in a pulsating battle.

Araujo had a headed goal disallowed for offside, and the clearest chance of all came for Hiroki Abe, when the Japanese ‘false nine’ was denied by a tremendous save from Andorra keeper Ratti right on the half-time whistle.

The second half saw Barça B raise things a notch, and shots were flying in from all angles without one finding the target. Guillem and Abel Ruiz added fuel to the attack as the surge to find that elusive goal went into overdrive, and it looked like we finally had it when Monchu struck right at the end.

But no. The game ended as it had begun. Hopefully we’ll have more fortune next Sunday at 12.00 noon CET when we visit twelfth placed Ebro.
