Barça 0-1 Real Madrid: LaLiga Promises finalists

Barça threw everything at it but couldn't break through Real Madrid's defence in the LaLiga Promises final

The FC Barcelona Under-14 B team just came up short against Real Madrid in the LaLigaPromises Internacional final played this weekend in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria). Real Madrid scored the only goal of the game from a free kick in the second half, and despite throwing everything at it, Barça couldn't find a way through the Real Madrid defence before the full-time whistle blew.

Goalless first half

Both teams started the game with the intensity of a major final with everything at stake. Remaining true to their playing styles throughout, the first half was one of few opportunities and the scoreline remained scoreless at the break.

Decisive second-half free kick

Real Madrid started the second half with more of a desire to break the deadlock. Five minutes in Edu Valentín hammered a free kick from the left into the far right corner of the Barça goal, leaving the keeper with no chance.

Barça had got used to resolving difficult situations throughout the weekend so they again upped the intensity, threatening on several occasions but the Real Madrid goalkeeper and defence remained resolute.

Ultimately the goal by Edu Valentín - MVP of the tournament - decided this final, meaning Barça will have to wait to lift their 30th LaLigaPromises trophy.
