This Thursday morning, the new collaboration agreement between FC Barcelona and Unió Esportiva Olot was signed at the Club’s offices. The event was attended by Rafael Yuste, president of FC Barcelona; José Ramón Alesanco, director of Youth Football and La Masia; and Josep Llorca, head of Football Management. Representing UE Olot were Joan B. Agustí, president of the club; Jordi Masó, sporting vice-president; and Lluís Micaló, sporting director of the La Garrotxa-based organisation.
With this agreement, FC Barcelona and UE Olot strengthen a collaborative relationship between two institutions with deep roots in Catalan football and a shared understanding of the importance of development, youth football and the transmission of values through sport.
The agreement will help reinforce the sporting and institutional ties between the two clubs, especially in the field of youth development, and will contribute to the promotion and development of young talent. In this regard, the agreement reflects FC Barcelona’s commitment to continuing to work alongside clubs that play a fundamental role in identifying, supporting and developing footballers.
FC Barcelona president Rafael Yuste said that “this agreement expresses Barça’s willingness to continue standing alongside those clubs that carry out essential work in the development of young footballers and in the transmission of the values of sport. Both clubs share historic roots that have connected us since the time of Joan Gamper, founder of Barça and one of the driving forces behind Olot, and it is important to reinforce these bonds of collaboration”.
For his part, UE Olot president Joan B. Agustí stated that “for us, this is both an honour and a source of great excitement, because our origins are linked to Barça. We hope this agreement will help strengthen ties, promote a football model that supports local players, and reinforce the identity-based dimension of Barça’s ‘més que un club’ motto”.
The signing also highlights the historic and sporting ties between FC Barcelona and UE Olot, two organisations that share a way of understanding football based on commitment, effort, identity and the social role of clubs within their communities.
