President Rafael Yuste has met with the media ahead of the directors lunch between FC Barcelona and Newcastle United, conveying a message of cautious optimism about the team at present. He assured that the team are approaching the match with “the necessary caution” a tie of this level deserves, but with confidence too based on the work done in recent days.

Yuste highlighted the work of coach Hansi Flick in particular, who he says is “enjoying day-to-day” and passing that on the dressing room. According to the president, that approach to the work is taken on board by the players, the coaching staff and the club as a whole. “Albeit cautious, I am optimistic as we are well prepared for the tie”, he stated.

Rafael Yuste also revealed that the club are about to receive the license needed with a view to the upcoming fixtures. “We learned this morning that we were about to obtain the license. That's great news, because we will have 60,000 members supporting the team on Sunday”, he explained. According to Yuste, the situation will also help see more fans involved and help create a positive setting for the team.

In addition to the sporting side, Yuste also referred to the institutional aspect regarding the elections for the club presidency. He emphasised that the priority is to ensure calm inside the institution so the team can compete with every assurance. In this sense, he called on FC Barcelona members and fans to take part in the election. “It's a very important date for every FC Barcelona fan who loves this club”, he indicated.

Lastly, the blaugrana president referenced the good atmosphere in the dressing room. He explained that the team are ready both mentally and physically, and wanted to highlight how close-knit the dressing room is, stating “There is a great atmosphere, from the coach through to the kit person”. He concluded that this atmosphere is just one of the factors why the Club should be optimistic regarding the upcoming game.
