Today Wednesday, FC Barcelona unveiled its first all-female eSports team, which will compete in the VALORANT Game Changers league, an international competitive circuit whose mission is to provide opportunities and visibility for women and people of diverse gender identities who have traditionally been underrepresented in eSports and video gaming.

This is a new project from the club’s eSports section, which already has League of Legends and VALORANT teams competing at regional level.

This all-female team forms part of FC Barcelona’s commitment to promoting initiatives that foster equality and inclusion in sport, one of the cornerstones of being “More than a Club”. FC Barcelona is a leading club in the promotion of women in sport, particularly through its commitment to women’s football for more than 50 years. Thanks to this ongoing involvement, the club helps create female role models and reaffirms its commitment to gender equality and equity in sport, creating an inclusive environment for the whole Barça family.

Barça's new women's eSports team is also driven by a clear sporting objective: to qualify for the VALORANT Game Changers Championship. The squad has been formed with players who already have experience in this competition.

The team is made up of Maria “Toki” Pérez as captain, Alba “Annie” García, Paula “Devilasa” Blanco, and the Turkish players Eylül “Miyori” Sarıoğlu and İlayda “Lyda” Güzeldere. The coaching staff will be led by former professional player Fabián “Quick” Pereira.

Ready to compete

The team will make its competitive debut tomorrow, Thursday 15 January at 7pm CET, in the VALORANT Game Changers EMEA Closed Qualifier, where the aim is to qualify for Stage 1 of the competition.

All Barça eSports Game Changers matches can be followed on the club’s Twitch channel (twitch.tv/fcbarcelona), and all the latest updates can be found on Twitter (x.com/fcbesports) and Instagram (instagram.com/fcbesports).
