Mobility advice for Real Madrid fixture at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

FC Barcelona has agreed with Barcelona City Council on a specific mobility plan that alters plans for getting to and from the stadium for motor vehicles, shuttle buses, and pedestrians

This Sunday 11 May several events are expected to draw large crowds to the Montjuic area at the same time. Barça are of course facing Real Madrid at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys at 4.15pm, but there will be a series of activities that will affect mobility, such as the Barcelona International Motor Show and the El Corte Inglés fun run, as well as roadworks around Plaça Espanya. The club again recommends following the mobility guidelines because this overlap will cause major disruptions around Montjuïc.

To address the different mobility concerns, FC Barcelona, together with Barcelona City Council, the Guardia Urbana and Fira, has agreed on a specific mobility plan that temporarily modifies the previous version for this match. This update has been prepared with motor vehicles, shuttle buses and pedestrians in mind, with the aim of making it easier for members and fans to enter and leave the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

ARRIVAL AT ESTADI OLÍMPIC LLUÍS COMPANYS

Change of shuttle bus routes

Because of the simultaneous events, the usual shuttle stop on Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina is moved to Avinguda de Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia, opposite the CaixaForum. This service will be available from two hours before kick-off until 7.15pm.

In addition, the shuttles located in front of Car Park C at the Fira Gran Via in Hospitalet will be reinforced, and Car Park D (right next to C) will also be opened to facilitate private vehicle parking, given the difficulty of accessing the area via Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina.

Walking and escalators

As a result of the closure of Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina, access to the escalators from Plaça Espanya will be provided via Carrer Mèxic.

Prioritise public transport

Starting at 12pm (noon) and as is customary on match days, the match-day traffic plan will be activated. Vehicles will not be allowed to circulate at the points closest to the Estadi Olímpic, and access to the Olympic Ring will require accreditation. The main recommendation for this Sunday is for spectators to arrive early and either walk or travel by public transport.

The Montjuïc funicular is the best suggestion for this Sunday. Metro or FGC lines that serve the area are also recommended:
Espanya (L1, L3, L8 and other FGC lines)
Poble Sec (L3)
Paral·lel (L2, L3)
Foc (L10 S)
Magoria – La Campana (L8 and other FGC lines)
Alternatively, TMB buses serving Plaça d’Espanya can be used (D20, D40, H12, H16, V7, 13, 23, 46, 52, 65, 79, 91, 109, 150 and 165) as well as those on Passeig de la Zona Franca (109 and 125). Because of the Motor Show, bus line 150 will shift its Plaça d’Espanya stop a few metres farther on, to Avinguda del Paral·lel. The Olympic Ring can also be reached via the escalators or by taxi.

Finally, please note that there will be no cloakroom service at the stadium.

Private vehicles

Due to the closure of Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina for the Motor Show, the BS:M car park cannot be accessed through its entrance at that location. For this reason, you are advised to use the overflow car park at Fira de Gran Via in Hospitalet, opposite the shuttle-bus stop, which operates on a pre-payment basis and offers reduced rates. When leaving the car park, a free shuttle service will be available to take passengers up to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

For motorcycles, up to 3,500 spaces will be available in areas near the stadium.

The club also provides accessibility information for people with disabilities, reduced mobility, or wheelchair users, as well as for their companions.

DEPARTURE FROM ESTADI OLÍMPIC LLUÍS COMPANYS

Because of the closure of Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina and the escalators between the Montjuïc fountains and Avinguda de Rius i Taulet, the evacuation routes will be reinforced for pedestrians coming via Avinguda Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia (in front of Carrer Mèxic) as well as for the two additional exits at Pasaje de Jean Forestier and Plaça de Puig i Cadafalch.
