FC Barcelona win 47th European Cup

The Women's team's triumph against Lyon in Bilbao adds another trophy to the long list of blaugrana achievements in Europe's premier club competitions

Champions League final bête noire defeated as Barça Women overcame Olympique Lyonnais Féminin to retain their title as European Champions to add to the win over Wolfsburg the season before in Eindhoven. This time in Bilbao in a stadium awash with blaugrana, Jonatan Giráldez' side again showed that they are the best team in the world.

This latest European trophy - the third for the women's football team - means the FC Barcelona professional teams have now won 47 European Cups. It also makes it eight for the football teams now, three for the women's side as mentioned, and five for the men's first team.

The basketball team have also won a couple, while the futsal side have won four, coming very close to a fifth this season. Lastly, the roller hockey side still reign supreme with 22 Champions League wins, double the 11 won by the handball team.

12th trophy up for grabs for the handball team in Cologne

This 47th European Cup in club competition may not be the last won this season, as the Barça handball team will strive to add another page to their European competition history in two weeks when they play in the EHF Champions League Final Four in Cologne on June 8 and 9.
