FC Barcelona complete phase two of the works at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

FC Barcelona are reaching the final stages of the work to bring the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys up to date, Barça's new home until November 2024 due to the building work going on at Spotify Camp Nou. FC Barcelona continue working on the Espai Barça project and, as part of the temporary lease on the stadium agreed with Barcelona City Council via the Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM), the company that manages the Estadi Olímpic, the Club began the work to update the stadium in December 2022. 

Many of the areas undergoing work need to be updated to satisfy both the requirements of the Club, La Liga and European competition are almost ready for the arrival of the blaugrana first team in August. The hospitality boxes, the VIP area, the press boxes, the dressing rooms and the pitch are some of the spaces that have undergone the biggest changes. Furthermore, the drainage and watering systems and the water treatment system have been updated, a new water tank has been installed as have competition systems for TV broadcasting. 

Other work carried out at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys include the improvement of the floodlighting and the pre-installation of the entry gates and the telecommunication networks. Following the schedule, the second phase of the work took place in two windows at Montjuïc, 4-12 May and 11 June to 3 July. In this final window the opportunity was also taken to finish off some of the pending works to update the stadium such as the transfer of the engine generators and the mounting of TV commentary positions amongst others.

Finally, to conclude, the updating work at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys will move into a third phase from 24 July until the start of the 2023/24 season. As such, work related to the relocating of seats in the stands in the current exit channels for concerts, installation of seats in the VIP areas and the systems for sporting competition - VAR, tracking cameras and offside cameras - and the placing of dugouts and goalposts. Furthermore, tickets offices will be created, merchandising areas and the OAB before the playing surface is also laid.
