Final goodbye to Marcos Alonso Peña

Representatives from FC Barcelona travelled to Madrid to bid farewell to the former Barça player and father to the current blaugrana Marcos Alonso

A sad day in Madrid at the Tanatorio de la Paz-Tres Cantos where on Friday Marcos Alonso Peña, former FC Barcelona player between 1982 and 1987 and father of current player Marcos Alonso, was buried. 

President Joan Laporta, vice president Rafa Yuste, first team coach Xavi Hernández, captain Sergio Busquets, member of the Presidency Cabinet Enric Masip, director of youth football José Ramon Alexanko and president of the Barça Veterans Juan Manuel Asensi represented FC Barcelona in the final farewell to Marcos Alonso. 

Joan Laporta: "He gave us many moments of glory" 

Speaking to Club media, Joan Laporta recalled that Marcos Alonso Peña "gave many moments of glory to the Club in a great era in Barça history." The president described the former player as a man with "character, who always had affectionate words for Barça." Laporta added that Alonso was able to fulfil two of his great wishes before passing away, "seeing his son play for Barça and getting to know his granddaughter."
