Rakuten acquires exclusive FC Barcelona merchandising rights in Japan
A variety of Barça related goods will be rolled out in Japan including fashion items, toys and food products.
FC Barcelona and Rakuten will bring the Club closer to its fans in Japan with a new range of Barça merchandise. Rakuten has obtained a master license for the exclusive merchandising of FC Barcelona in Japan and will roll out a variety of Club related goods in Japan in the future.
The deal forms part of the Club’s wider merchandizing strategy as it evolves from a sports club to a lifestyle brand. Culers in Japan can look forward to Barça branded fashion items, toys, stationery, health and beauty items, food products and more. FC Barcelona is constantly looking for ways to get closer to its millions of fans in Japan and so a variety of merchandising opportunities are being explored including collaborations with artists and developing goods incorporating Japanese culture. The new range of products will be available on Rakuten’s e-commerce platforms, with additional merchandise to be developed in collaboration with partner companies.
Barça Licensing and Merchandizing (BLM) is working with leading corporations like Rakuten to create an extensive Barça merchandise program with a wide product portfolio to get closer to its fans across the globe.
