Two weeks ago, Konami announced the latest edition of its eFootball PES franchise, eFootball PES 2021 SEASON UPDATE (PES 2021). The Standard and Club Editions will be available on September 15th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Steam). FC Barcelona and KONAMI first entered into a Global Partnership agreement four years ago and have since renewed their global partnership agreement. On Wednesday 15th July, KONAMI and FC Barcelona also released a teaser trailer, featuring Lionel Messi in the new 2020/21 jersey.

Taking PES to a new level

KONAMI is hard at work creating a next-gen football title that embodies its core concept of “The Pitch is Ours”. The title is being developed with an updated engine that will offer astounding improvements to all areas of the game. Expect more realistic player models and animations, enhanced physics, photorealistic visuals and much more. Large updates are also in the works for both the myClub and Master League modes.

Due to the sheer scale of this next gen debut efforts have pared back in other areas of development. As a result, the launch of this year’s PES is a streamlined offering in the form of a “season update”, however the game still offers fans more than enough thrills to tide them over until the next-gen title is ready for launch. This year also marks a quarter of a century since the first PES title was released. To commemorate this important milestone, and more importantly show gratitude to loyal fans, this year’s PES will launch at an affordable anniversary price and come with several bonuses. PES aim to begin testing of the next gen title sometime in mid-2021, with an estimated release date later in the same year.

eFootball PES 2021, a strategic pillar on the new Barça eSports division

FC Barcelona’s new eSports division started one year ago, and as a key stone of this project the Club created its PES team. Made up of Saúl "The Palma" Chávez, Henrique "Henrykinho" Mesquita y Guilherme "Guifera" Fonseca, this year the team ended up fourth in the official Konami eFootball Pro tournament, competing against the best clubs in Europe. Barça also competes in Rocket League, where its team played the World Cup in New Jersey in front of 10,000 people and this last season managed to be again among the four best teams in Europe, while Hearthstone team managed to keep the place in the highest European competition.

Now, with the launch of the new eFootball PES 2021, FC Barcelona releases a section on its website where fans will be able to see the news and updates about Konami, eFootball PES 2021 and it will also  feature the professional eSport players and the competitions organized by the developer of the video game. In the future, fans will also be able to check the latest news on the eSports division.

Barça eSports division was born with the same ambition the Club has on the football pitch: to become a relevant actor in the eSports arena globally in the next few years, building a leading section that will help to connect with new audiences, especially in emerging football markets, and take the Barça brand to countries like the United States and China. However, the Club will stay true to Barça values and will only include non-violent games that are consistent with the brand and everything it represents, upholding gender equality and a major commitment to educating and training people and players.
