FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Xavier Pujol Estela to join the club. The Manresa native, born on 17 March 1990, has signed a three-year contract as Sporting Director of the basketball department.

Xevi Pujol therefore becomes the senior sporting executive of Barça Basketball and will be responsible for defining the department's sporting philosophy. The young sporting director joins the Cçclub from Baskonia, where he served as Technical Secretary during the 2025/26 season, following five successful seasons (2020–2025) as Sporting Director of Manresa.

A life at the Nou Congost

The new Barça executive came through the youth ranks at Bàsquet Manresa. Passionate about the sport, he began his coaching career at a young age, serving as an assistant coach with Manresa's first team between 2014 and 2020.

His extensive knowledge of the game led him into a front-office role, becoming Sporting Director of Manresa from 2020 to 2025. During those five seasons, the club consistently achieved its objectives while also enjoying notable successes, including reaching the Basketball Champions League final, winning the Lliga Catalana, qualifying for the Copa del Rey on three occasions and reaching the Liga Endesa Playoffs twice. In the 2024/25 season, he was named Liga Endesa Sporting Director of the Year, an award presented by Gigantes del Basket magazine.

One year at Buesa Arena

In the summer of 2025, Pujol left Manresa to join Baskonia as Technical Secretary. During the 2025/26 season, the Vitoria-based club won the Copa del Rey.
