The former Barça centre, 44 year old Jordi Trias, is set to return to the Club to focus on support work in both the sporting and institutional areas of the FC Barcelona basketball set-up. 

Jordi Trias left the club, where he spent six years as a player, in 2017, his last role helping out the young players in the Barça B squad. Over a 20 year career Jordi Trias, as well his spell with Barça, played for Joventut, Manresa and Girona. 

Barça, never far away

Although he is from Girona, where he began his career, his move to Barça in the 2004/05 season marked a major step forward. While playing for Barcelona, Trias won one ACB League (2009), two Copa del Rey titles (2007 and 2010), two Spanish Super Cups (2004 and 2009), and one EuroLeague (2010). As for individual honours, Jordi Trias was named MVP of the Copa del Rey that the team won in Málaga (2007).

Trias has always had Barça in his heart: “Even though I wasn’t at the club, I’ve always felt it was my club. It represents a dream for me, and I’m very grateful for the trust shown in me.”
The Girona native highlights the role he will take on within the club’s structure: “I’m here mainly to support the sports area, as well as the more institutional side. I’ve always considered myself a club man, before as a player, now as a staff member, and whatever is required of me, they’ll find me ready.”

Cubells supports his arrival

The man responsible for Barça's basketball set-up, Josep Cubells, highlights the “versatility” nature of Jordi Trias’s hiring: “It’s a major reinforcement for the basketball structure. He will provide support both in the sporting area and on the institutional side. He will play a multi-functional role. We need people like Jordi, because Barça basketball faces many challenges ahead, and he will surely help us. Moreover, Trias is someone who knows the Club perfectly, he was one of the heroes of 2010, and so, it will be like coming home.
