After five wins on the run the Barça basketball team's streak has come to an end. Joan Peñarroya's team went down to a 100-94 defeat in a high scoring encounter in France. Maledone led the way for the home side with 18 points and a valuation of 29 with Punter top scoring for Barça with 19 points.
Asvel take the lead
Barça began the game with problems defensively and Maledon helped himself to 15 points in the opening 20 minutes. ASVEL scored almost 50 points in the first half with a flowing offensive performance but the blaugranes also performed well on the attack with Punter scoring 8 points and Parker 9 in the first two quarters to keep the blaugranes in the game at 48-42 at the break.
In the second half the French side opened up an important lead at 60-47 only for the blaugranes to come back to reduce the deficit to seven with a quarter to go at 76-69.
The final quarter began well for Barça as Punter and Parker helped reduce the difference to just a point at 91-90 with three minutes remaining. Vesely levelled it up at 93-93 with 90 seconds to go but the French side dealt with the pressure better and a three pointer from Lee turned out to be decisive as ASVEL took a 100-94 in the Euroleague.
