Barça lost another game on the road with Saras Jasikevicius' team going down to a 81-73 defeat in Istanbul against Fenerbahce. The blaugranes started the contest well but the home side came back into the before half time and edged the duel in the second half. Qualification for the play offs in the Euroleague will have to wait for Saras and his team.
The match in Istanbul began in the best possible fashion for Barça with the visitors scoring 16 points in just three minutes to take a 10 point lead. The blaugranes dominated the opening quarter and started the second period with a 30-18 lead.
Nevertheless, Saras' team fell away in the second quarter and the Turkish side slowly hauled themselves back into the game to cut Barça's lead to just three points at half time at 40-37.
In the second half the game's momentum was still with Fenerbahce. The home side took the lead early in the third quarter and by the time of the start of the final period they were 61-56 ahead.
Barça rallied in the fourth quarter and retook the lead at 68-67. However, seven answered points from the Turks opened up a gap that the blaugranes were unable to close and the game ended in a 81-73 win for the home side.
Barça are next in action on Sunday in the league against Manresa with the game starting at 6.30pm CET at the Palau Blaugrana.
