Fun and games for all the family at Joan Gamper Trophy

Fans get a 40% discount when buying tickets online for the game with Chapecoense - and it's worth getting to the stadium early to enjoy all the pre-match activities

Like every year, the Joan Gamper Trophy marks the beginning of a new season. The prelude to the game against Chapecoense also brings the official presentation to the fans of new coach Ernesto Valverde and his 2017/18 squad. But that’s just one of the attractions in the build-up to the 8.30pm CET kick-off on Monday 7 August.

There will be a host of family-oriented activities going on outside the stadium, with plenty of fun and games for all ages on the different stands, as well as various cleverly devised ways to keep everyone cool in the stifling midsummer heat.

The Camp Nou’s bars and restaurants will also be churning out refreshments, and there will be music, parades and even a freestyle football show to keep folk entertained.

In other words, if you’re coming to the game, be sure to get there early to enjoy all the amusements!

40% discounted tickets

You can get those tickets by all the usual methods, including the club website here at www.fcbarcelona.com and at the stadium ticket offices from 9.15am to 7.30pm.

If you buy them via the website, you also get a 40% discount, and they’ll be on sale until each zone sells out. Simply enter the code “GAMPER40” to get the special price. The cheapest cost just €17, while those for other zones range between €26 and €50.

Tribute to Chapecoense

As fans will surely be aware, Monday’s guests Chapecoense were the victims of a horrific air accident when travelling to the final of the Copa Sudamericana in Colombia last November. FC Barcelona would like to mark their visit by paying a special tribute to the 71 people that died and their families.

The survivors of the tragedy will be taking the honorary kick-off and after the game will be posing for an official photo in the President Box.

This is the sixth Brazilian club to attend the traditional curtain-raiser at the Camp Nou. Internacional from Porto Alegre have participated no fewer than four times, Vasco da Gama three times, Santos twice and Flamengo and Botafogo once each.

The only one to have taken home the trophy, and the only non-European winner, was Internacional in 1982.

Schedule

The pre-match activities will get going from noon and will continue until 7.00pm, including two concerts by the Banda del Coche Rojo at 4.00pm and 5.45pm. The Camp Nou stadium opens its gates at 6.00pm, but from 4.00pm visitors will be required to show their tickets in order to continue enjoying the special Gamper events.

The first team will be officially presented to the crowd at 7.30pm, while the game itself kicks off at 8.30pm.

If you are in the city or region on Monday, we hope to see you there!
