Barça Alusport and Inter Movistar will face each other this Saturday (13:00) in the semifinal playoffs of the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Sala. This will be the seventh this season that Barça and Inter Movistar will play against each other, and it won’t be the last, seeing that there will be, at minimum, an eight match (the second semifinal playoff match). The Azulgrana player Sergio Lozano believes that playing against the Madrid-based side won’t be easy: “it will be the most difficult match. They’re coming off a loss to us - and they’ll be very motivated. If they don’t win, they’re season will be a failure.” This seasons has seen the most Barça-Inter matches in the history of the LNFS.

From defeat to victory

Everything started in Torrejón de Ardoz. Barça Alusport and Inter Movistar played the first game of the season this September, in the final of the Spanish Super Cup. In this first match, Inter beat the Azulgranas by 3-4. It was Inter’s 10th Spanish Super Cup and the first title of the season. One month later, the Liga brought the two teams together once again. On this occasion, however, Barça and Inter drew (1-1).

The next time the two teams faced off was in March, in another competition: the semifinals of the Spanish Cup. Barça beat Inter by 4-1. With this victory, Marc Carmona’s men claimed thier first win over the all-greens as they clinched a spot in the final. Barça went on to win the tournament.

Three matches in less than two weeks

Between the end of March and the beginning of April, Barça and Inter played in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey. In the away match, the Azulgranas won by 3-1 and they secured passage to the final by winning 2-3 in the return leg. In between these two matches, the teams also faced off in the Liga, Inter won that game by 3-6.

With a 3 and 2 record, including a draw, FC Barcelona Alusport and Inter Movistar will face each other for the seventh time this season: the semifinals of the Liga playoffs. Getting to the final won’t be an easy task, seeing that Barça have not beaten Inter in the Liga and, on the other hand, the Madrid-based side are out for revenge after being eliminated from the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Cup. However, if the playoffs go to a third game (the ninth between the two teams) it will be at the Palau Blaugrana.
