Umtiti at the best Club in the world to win titles

It is only six months since Samuel Umtiti arrived in Barcelona, but from the first moment the centre back has felt at home in the Catalan capital. As a footballer he is clearly in the Barça mould and the Frenchman has proved popular both inside and outside the changing room. The quick, ball-playing central defender, who is also strong in the tackle and good in the air, had all the attributes required to be successful and this has proved to be the case at the Camp Nou.

In an interview with Barça's media outlets, Umtiti spoke of his arrival at “the best Club in the world with the best players; the most demanding team which is where I want to be as I want to win titles.” Moreover, Samuel feels like he has “completely adapted to the team, the other players are fantastic and the Club is exceptional.” On the subject of the city he said: “I like it a lot, the climate is ideal and the people are very nice.”

The French player reflected on his signing: “It was like a dream come true, when I arrived at Camp Nou to sign the contract was one of the best moments of my life. During the following days, I tried to take in what was happening and set myself challenges.”

In terms of his personal life, the young central defender spoke of his hobbies, such as, TV shows, films, music and video games. “I think music allows people to come together, especially in a changing room, where we are always connected and happy.”

The Barça defender spoke of his family, highlighting his mother's crucial role in his footballing career. “For her it was important that I studied, her strictness helped me a lot. I couldn't go training until I finished my homework. My mother got a driving licence so that she could drive me to training with Olympique Lyon.”
